Year 6: Comprehension (Ash Beneath the Pavement)

Ash Beneath the Pavement: A Year 5 Reading Comprehension Course

Step into a city that never truly sleeps in Ash Beneath the Pavement. In this atmospheric Year 5 reading comprehension course, pupils follow Mira, a curious and alert protagonist who notices something no one else seems to hear: a slow, steady “breathing” deep beneath the busy streets. As she lies awake listening to sirens, buses and fox cries, Mira begins to sense that the ordinary tower blocks, shops and bus stops are all resting on something ancient and alive far below the pavement.
